My Blog Called Stupid! Insipid! Freedom of Speech

Published by natachaandrews at 11:53 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

We do live in a country with freedom of speech and technically not much can be done when people express their opinion on another’s person’s work.

In a commentary placed on my Blog, my writing was insulted or given some special wording as a right of freedom of expression. I accepted the comment and others who have so liberally expressed an opinion. While many people are respectful of my writing and give nice comments, which I thank them each now for it, I have to give the right to others to say not so nice or respectful comments.

I, sometimes, wonder about the whole meaning of the word freedom, or the phrase, freedom of speech. Just as some people are given the freedom to own a gun, (own the freedom of speech,) we would never want the person to use the gun to harm another person unless it was in defense of one’s own safety.

So, how is it, that we so carelessly go around shooting insulting words willing to harm the sensitivity and well mental being of another person? Is it done in personal defense? Did I, per say, write anything in my Blog that invaded the mental safety of a person to feel the need to shoot me with insulting words?

Don’t be so sensitive, some people have a bad day and your grammar may have struck someone who is super-sensitive about such things and made them write a comment which was not well thought out. Check your blog above for mis-placed words.

Since the dawn of right-wing radio, any idiot with a mouth now has “journalistic integrity”, and them Internets act as an echo chamber for any one with a modem. That includes conspiracy theorist pinkos as well. You should probably just take comfort in the fact that something you said got such a reaction out of someone that they were scared enough of your words to try to belittle them.

Know thyself. That’s the main thing. Also, learn to let criticism make you a better person. I was put in a remedial writing class in college because I wrote a lax entrance essay and I owe good deal of my success as a writer today to it and also to one particularly snarky professor I had the following year…. If I ever win a major televised award those people will be thanked.

    Be Well,

    Mike

I didn’t see the original piece but I would’nt make too big a deal out of it. Just like the fool who will flip you off in traffic, the internet provides a safe place for one to lob Criticism Bombs” at others.

Just a FYI, you might want to consider more judicious use of commas.

    Keep it up!
